Best Disc Golf Towel: Ultimate Guide

Ken Burkholder by Ken Burkholder
Reading Time: 9 mins read

Whether you’re driving off the tee or putting to save par, having a consistent grip on your disc is crucial. On a hot day, sweat and condensation will wreak havoc on your game and wet playing conditions (or the occasional water hole) can do the same. Instead of wiping your muddy disc on your shorts, buy a disc golf towel to level up your game without spending a ton of money (or ruining your shorts). A high-quality towel will help keep your disc clean and ready to throw. Start using a towel to keep your discs clean and you’ll be hitting fewer trees and cutting strokes off your score on your next round.

I put together a list of the 5 best disc golf towels you can buy today from budget to high-end. Best of all, they all cost no more than a new disc.

1. FlighTowel

Pros

Think of the FlighTowel like the Swiss Army Knife of disc golf towels. It’s not just any ordinary towel – it’s a versatile tool that can be used for a variety of purposes on the course. When comparing the FlighTowel to other disc golf towels on the market, it wipes out the competition (pun intended). Its unique fob and wind pocket make it a valuable training tool to work on your form before a round or even indoors. Meanwhile, it does everything that a normal disc golf towel does as well.

We love the FlighTowel so much that we wrote an entire review on it!

Cons

The FlighTowel is a little more pricey than some of the other towels on this list, but in my opinion it’s well worth it.

My Opinion

Overall, I really like the concept of the FlighTowel and think the product has been executed well. In my opinion, it’s worth it to spend the extra dollars to get a great disc golf towel that can also serve as a training aid. Check out our in-depth review of the FlighTowel here.

Best For

Anyone looking for the highest quality and most versatile disc golf towel out there.

2. INNOVA DewFly Towel

Pros

The Innova DewFly Towel is the bread-and-butter disc golf towel. The quick-drying, yet durable fabric wicks away moisture quickly. It works great for removing mud and water and washes nicely in the washer machine. I like that Innova offers the Dewfly in a variety of colors to fit your vibe. Personally, I’d recommend the high visibility orange colors, since it makes the towel easy to locate if it’s dropped.

Cons

The strap is a plus, but I wish they’d go ahead and provide a carabiner to hook the towel to your bag. I mean, how much can a cheap carabiner cost?

My Opinion

Best For

Anyone looking for a solid budget disc golf towel, but isn’t looking to splurge on the FlighTowel.

3. DGA Disc Dri

Pros

The DGA Disc Dri is a super fast-drying towel that is great for keeping your discs dry on a wet course and can be wrung almost completely dry after a round. It’s the ideal towel when used to complement a thicker towel like the INNOVA DewFly of FlighTowel. It’s machine washable and the durable strap is a must.

Cons

Although the thin material dries quickly, it’s fairly thin compared to most towels and not ideal for removing mud or caked-on dirt. Also, I wish they would include a carabiner to attach it to your bag.

My Opinion

I like the fast-drying material that this towel is made of, but I don’t think it’s big enough to be used as a s amin towel. I envision it being used more as a backup towel – keep it in your back pocket and use it for that final wipe-down of your disc to get a consistent grip every throw.

Best For

Anyone looking for a super fast-drying towel, or a smaller backup towel.

4. Axiom Discs Icon

Pros

The Axiom Discs Icon towel is the workhorse of disc golf towels. It is perfect for removing heavy-duty mud or dirt and is big enough to envelop the entire disc so your hands never get dirty. The included hook (finally a towel that includes something to hook to your bag!) is perfect for attaching it to your bag. The heavy-duty cotton material cleans easily in the wash.

Cons

The cotton material is beefy but doesn’t dry fast at all. Also, while I’m happy they included a hook to attach it to your bag, I feel like the strap holding it on isn’t the most durable.

My Opinion

The Axiom Disc Icon is a pretty big towel compared to some of the others on this list. In my opinion, it’s more than I’ll need on a regular basis, but I’ve definitely played some muddy courses where I could have used a big, beefy towel like this.

Best For

Anyone who wants a big towel they can just toss in the wash after the occasional muddy rounds.

5. Greens Microfiber Golf Towel

Pros

If you’re on a budget and not worried about name brands, then these microfiber towels are perfect. They offer incredible performance at a fraction of the price. This three-pack cost less than $10 and each towel even includes a carabiner clip for attaching the towel to your bag. They come in a variety of colors to suit your vibe and are machine washable.

Cons

These towels tend to pick up leaves and twigs if you happen to drop them on the ground.

My Opinion

These things are super inexpensive and plus they come with a carabiner – what’s not to love? Shoot, at this price just use one till it gets dirty then grab a new one to rotate in.

Best For

Anyone looking for a dirt cheap, yet functional towel.

Honorable Mention: Axiom Discs Watermelon Edition

The Axiom Discs Watermelon edition disc golf towel is hands down the coolest-looking disc golf towel on the market. The sublimated design is hard to miss and the unique pocketed texture of the towel ensures maximum absorption. Like the Icon towel above, it comes with a clip so it can easily be attached to your bag.

This thing also looks great with the Watermelon Axiom Disc Golf Bag.
