In this deep-dive article, I’m going to share what I’ve learned on my hunt for the best disc golf bag with a cooler. These bags are not just for holding your discs, but they also have a designated area to keep your drinks cool and refreshing throughout your game. It’s like having a mini fridge on your back, ensuring you stay hydrated and focused on the game ahead.
So let’s dive in and explore some of the best disc golf bags with coolers on the market. Take our quiz below to quickly find the best disc golf bag with a cooler for you!
Reasons You Need a Disc Golf Bag with a Cooler
Staying Hydrated
This is by far the most important reason on our list. Staying hydrated is crucial during any physical activity, especially during long rounds on hot days. Having a cooler compartment in your disc golf bag ensures that you have access to cold drinks throughout your game. This can keep you refreshed and energized, leading to better performance on the course.
Convenience
Picture this: It’s a hot summer day, and you’re out on the disc golf course. You’re tossing your discs like a pro, but you’re starting to feel thirsty. You reach into your bag, and instead of finding warm water bottles, you pull out an ice-cold drink from a cooler compartment built into your bag. It’s like having your own personal caddy, but instead of carrying your discs, it’s carrying your drinks.
More Storage
Last but not least, many disc golf bags with coolers also have additional storage compartments for snacks, sunscreen, and other necessities. This means you can bring everything you need for a long day on the course without having to carry multiple bags or coolers.
The 10 Best Disc Golf Bags With Coolers
STAR FRAME Brick 2.0 Disc Golf Bag With Cooler
Pros
This bag stands out for several reasons. First, The extra-large insulated cooler can hold up to 24 cans, and the bag has a large disc storage compartment that can hold up to 16 discs. The bag is also very durable, with a reinforced infrastructure and a custom bottom with rubber studs to keep it upright.
It also has convenient features like a phone sleeve to easily record your throws and putts, large drink pockets, storage pockets, and a large putter pocket. All in all, it’s a great bag that can withstand any weather conditions and is perfect for a weekend round with friends or an all-day tournament.
Cons
First off, the bag is a bit top-heavy if you use it without anything in the lower cooler compartment. However, a workaround is to store some discs in the lower compartment to balance things out. Also, the main disc storage area doesn’t hold discs quite as securely as I’d like. It seems like the lip that holds the discs in the bag should be slightly taller to keep any discs from popping out.
My Opinion
The STAR FRAME Brick 2.0 is a great choice for anyone looking for a bag/cooler combo. It’s also just a great all-around disc golf bag in general. In my opinion, the folks at Star Frame really hit (er..threw) it out of the park with this one. Now, there are a few cons that keep this bag from being a true Goldilocks. However, the little touches (like the phone sleeve designed to not cover up your camera so you can record your throws) more than make up for it.
Who Should Buy It
Anyone looking for the best disc golf bag with a cooler. Or really, anyone looking for a solid disc golf bag in general.
Dynamic Discs Soldier Cooler Disc Golf Bag
Pros
This bag/cooler combo from Dynamic Discs combines the popular Dynamic Discs Soldier bag with a removable zippered insulated cooler compartment that can hold six 16 oz cans. You can carry 10-12 discs in the main compartment along with two putters in the putter pocket when using the cooler, and 18+ discs in the main compartment with the cooler removed.
Plus, it has an on-deck putter pocket, two zippered pockets for your valuables and snacks, and two 32 oz water bottle holders. With all that gear in tow, I’m also happy to report that the shoulder strap is padded.
Cons
My main complaint is that there is no way to roll up and secure the top flap of the bag. Not a huge deal, but it is a feature I love on my old Discraft bag. The grip is that the shoulder strap buckles a very squeaky, but hopefully, they will break in over time.
My Opinion
Dynamic Discs has been in the game for a while. So, it’s no surprise that they delivered with this bag. It offers a good amount of storage space for discs, putters, and other accessories, as well as a removable insulated cooler compartment for drinks. The 100% money-back guarantee is also a nice reassurance for those who may be hesitant to try a new product. Overall, it seems like a well-designed and practical bag for disc golfers.
Who Should Buy It
Anyone who wants a smaller-sized bag/cooler combo than the traditional backpack-style bag.
Squatch Link Bag with Cooler
Pros
This bag from Squatach Disc Golf has some features that I really like. First off, it’s got a slimmer, open design style that makes it easy to access all your discs. Plus, it comes with a slide-in cooler, which is great for keeping your drinks cold on a hot day out on the course. The bag is also made from 1000d/500d Cordura nylon with a water-resistant coating, so it’s super durable and can stand up to years of use.
Last but not least, the Link bag is super versatile. It has a 30+ disc total storage capacity, with extra large vertical pockets and versatile side pockets for storing just about anything you might need on the course. There’s even a large Velcro area for custom patches, which is also a mini marker pocket! And if you need to hang something, there are two D rings for that too. All in all, this bag seems like a solid choice for anyone who wants comfort, durability, and versatility in a disc golf backpack
Cons
First off, this bag is expensive – around $240 – and that’s just not feasible for a lot of people. Also, the slide-in cooler only holds 3 cans or water bottles, which may not be enough for some people.
My Opinion
Squatch disc golf bags are expensive – plain and simple. However, they are also top-of-the-line products that exude and deliver quality. Personally, I’m too cheap to spend the money on one of their bags, but I love the company and what they stand for. If I was going to spend the money on the nicest cooler/bag combo out there and didn’t need a ton of drink capacity I would buy this bag.
Who Should Buy It
Players who demand the most durable, functional, and stylish disc golf equipment and have the budget to afford it.
Dynamic Discs Commander Cooler Backpack
Pros
The Dynamic Discs Commander Cooler Backpack is another solid option from Dynamic Discs. One of the standout features of this bag is the built-in cooler, which can hold a six-pack and keep your drinks icy cold all day long. In terms of disc storage, the main compartment can hold 10+ discs, and there are additional vertical disc pockets and tall side pockets for even more storage.
There are also two water bottle holders on the side to keep you hydrated, and the bag comes with a limited lifetime warranty that covers any defects in materials or workmanship. Plus, if you need extra protection from the elements, you can purchase a rainfly separately. Overall, this bag is a solid choice for disc golfers who value storage, hydration, and convenience all in one.
Cons
I think this bag is slightly overpriced for what you get. Especially if you consider that it’s almost double the price of the Star Fram Brick 2.0 in our #1 spot Also, While this bag can hold up to 10+ discs in the main compartment, the vertical disc pockets can only fit 4+ discs, which may not be enough for some players who carry a larger number of discs.
My Opinion
Yes, I think this bag is overpriced. However, it is backed by Dynamic Discs limited lifetime warranty and reputation. I feel like they could have squeezed in some more storage space, but maybe they were trying to keep it from being too heavy.
Who Should Buy It
Anyone whos a fan of the Dynamic Discs brand and is looking for a backpack/cooler combo
The Throwback Sack
Pros
The Throwback sack is similar to the Dynamic Discs Soldier in spot #2. However, the cooler part of the bag is totally separate from the disc compartment. It can hold up to 12 discs in the disc compartment, and the cooler can store 4 cans or a 32 oz. bottle in the insulated drink holder. Plus, it’s got other handy features like a pencil holder, putter pocket, towel clip, and a zippered phone/wallet pocket.
Cons
There are a couple of downsides to consider with this bag though. The shoulder strap isn’t very comfortable for longer play sessions, so you might want to take some breaks to rest your shoulders. Additionally, while the cooler compartment is advertised to hold 6 cans it can only hold 4 cans without the risk of tearing the stitching or zipper.
My Opinion
Throwback Sports is a smaller/newer disc golf bag maker and they seem to put out quality gear. I like the Throwback sack, and I think it’s a good choice if you need the cooler and disc area to be separate. For the price, I feel like they could have done better with the strap – perhaps adding some padding like the Dynamic Discs Soldier.
Who Should Buy It
Anyone who wants a smaller bag or the cooler area of the bag to be separate from the disc area.
Rogue Iron Disc Golf Backpack & Cooler (V3)
Pros
The Rogue Irons Disc Golf Backpack is in my opinion the best budget disc golf bag with a cooler. The cooler area can easily fit 12 cans or 30 discs (if you use the cooler compartment like a traditional disc golf bag). Plus, there’s a water bottle storage pocket with a double barrel cord lock that can fit up to a 32oz Nalgene bottle.
The bag also has high-stretch pockets for easy access to all of your discs, and the pockets are designed to prevent the discs from slipping out. And let’s not forget the wire frame that gives the bag a solid structure and helps it stand upright even when it’s empty. Finally, the bag is made with high-quality zippers that are large enough to grab even if you’re wearing disc golf gloves.
Cons
The disc storage is limited when you’re using the main compartment as a cooler. The side pockets are pretty much your only option for disc storage at that point and you’ll be limited to around 12 discs when the cooler is full. It’s also a very plain Jane looking bag that comes in any color you want, as long as it’s black.
My Opinion
I personally like the look of this bag and I think it’s a fantastic deal for what you get. Rogue Iron is another smaller company with a focus on community and customer service. It would be nice if they had found a way to incorporate a bit more disc storage for when the cooler is full though.
Who Should Buy It
Anyone on a budget and/or looking for maximum cooler capacity over disc storage.
Throwback All Day Pack With Oversize Cooler Built-in
Pros
The Throwback All Day Pack is another good offering from Throwback Sports. It’s very similar (almost identical) to the Rogue Iron bag we looked at above. However, it has a bit more disc capacity (around 16) due to the slightly larger side pockets. Like the Rogue Iron V3 bag, it also has a top bottle holder that can hold a 20 oz water bottle.
Cons
This bag is a bit pricy compared to the Rogue Iron bag.
My Opinion
I like Throwback Sports, but I feel like this bag is a bit pricy compared to the Rogue Iron bag which is almost identical. Coming in at almost double the price, I don’t feel like it delivers double the value.
Who Should Buy It
Anyone looking for an alternative option to the Rogue Iron bag.
19thCrew Disc Golf Bag with Cooler
Pros
The 19thCrew Disc golf bag is a newcomer that I really like. It holds up to 18 discs in the main compartment and 6 cans with ice in the top cooler. It also has a very asethic look and feel that is far ahead of many of the other more plain disc colf cooler bags on this list
Cons
Because it is a relatively new bag and company, the 19thCrew disc golf cooler bag doesn’t have the trackrecord and protection of larger brands like Dynamic Discs. There is no lifetime warranty and no website for the company outside of Amazon, which is a potential red flag in the case of you receiving a defective product.
My Opinion
This is a great looking bag with a very practical design, and because of that I recommend it. Just do your due diligence when you first receive it and take advantage of the initial Amazon return policy if needed, because you likely won’t be able to contact the manufacturer in the future.
Who Should Buy It
Anyone looking for a more stylish disc golf bag with a cooler and trying to stay under $100 in price.
Rogue Iron Sports Disc Golf Hydration Backpack
Pros
Although it’s technically not a cooler bag, this hydration backpack from Rogue Iron is a great option for staying hydrated on the course. What sets the Rogue Iron Sports Disc Golf Hydration Backpack apart is that it’s specifically designed to be compact. It’s perfect for beginners who may only have a few discs to start with, but also great for advanced players who don’t want to lug around their entire collection.
It’s also super lightweight, coming in at less than a pound! Another great feature is that it comes with a BPA and Lead-free 2L Water bladder, hose, mouthpiece, mouthpiece cover, and a 4-piece cleaning kit. And if you’re someone who likes to bring along accessories like towels, the included carabiners make it easy to attach them to your bag.
Cons
This bag has a relatively limited capacity, holding only 6 to 8 discs depending on the type and how full the water bladder is. This may not be enough for some disc golfers who absolutely need to carry a larger variety of discs. Also, the bag is designed to accommodate a water bladder rather than a water bottle, which may not be ideal for all players.
My Opinion
As I said earlier, I really like Rogue Iron as a company and I think they have a great vision for the sport. I also really like the idea behind this bag. There aren’t a lot of minimalistic disc golf backpacks. Since I sometimes like to carry just a handful of discs, I definitely find this bag appealing. Add in the hydration pack and you’ve got an absolute winner in my book. Plus, you just can’t beat the price.
Who Should Buy It
Minimalistic players who don’t need a big flashy bag.
Falcona Wild Golf Cooler Bag
Pros
Technically this isn’t a disc golf bag or a disc golf cooler. It’s actually designed for traditional golfers who want to keep their drinks cold on the course and don’t want to lug a big cooler around. However, it works well for disc golf as well – especially if you have a disc golf cart to hook it onto.
It has padded carry straps and handle, it’s comfortable to carry by hand or over the shoulder, and the carry handle can easily be unclipped and hooked onto your cart for quick and secure transport.
Cons
The Falcona Wild Golf Cooler Bag is designed primarily as a cooler for drinks and not as a disc golf bag. So it does not offer as much storage space for discs and other disc golf accessories as other bags on the list. It also only really works with a cart, unless you have a massive bag to put it in
My Opinion
I would probably go with a dedicated cooler/bag combo first. However, I really think this could be a good option for somebody with a cart or a really big bag that it could fit in.
Who Should Buy It
Anyone with a cart or large bag that needs a quick and easy cooler solution
My Final Thoughts
So there you have it, my journey to find the 10 best disc golf bags with coolers. It’s been a fun ride, and I hope you’ve learned a lot about what makes a great disc golf bag with a cooler.
As you can see, there are many different types of disc golf bags with coolers on the market each one with its strengths and weaknesses.
Ultimately, the best disc golf bag with a cooler for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences. But no matter which bag you choose, having a cooler built-in will take your disc golf game to the next level. So grab your bag, stock it with some cold drinks and snacks, and hit the course for a refreshing round of disc golf.
