Simon Lizotte Leaves Discmania [Learn Why]

The rumors are true! After 10 years with the disc golf brand Discmania, professional disc golfer Simon Lizotte announced today in a heartfelt video that he is leaving for another sponsor.

Originally from Bremen, Germany, Simon “The Wunderkind” Lizotte made a name for himself after joining Team Discmania in 2013 with his epic trick shots, long distance throws, and fun-loving personality. He now departs after 10 years with the brand; keep reading for all the details.

Why is Simon Lizotte Leaving Discmania?

Lizotte stated in the video that his decision was not motivated by any problems at Discmania, but that he received an offer from another brand he couldn’t refuse and realized he was ready to make a change. He says that, “There was nothing wrong at Discmania [and] nothing happened that made me want to leave….But after this crazy season I had, I guess it was just a matter of time before someone reached out and made me an offer.”

He goes on to state how much he feels at home at Discmania and always thought he would stay with the brand for life. However, after turning 30 he realized this might be his last shot at an offer like the one he received and feels like a fresh start will be best for his family and career.

Discmania wrote in a statement released the same day, “The ride has been an enjoyable one. A journey of a lifetime. It has been great to watch Simon grow up. He started out his career in Team Discmania as a road warrior in the Discmania RV and finishes it as a family man with his own home in Massachusetts. Simon will forever be a part of the Discmania family. This relationship has really allowed both Simon, and Discmania to reach new heights. He will forever be a part of our company’s story, and we will forever be a part of his.”

They also announced the release of the Simon Lizotte Signature Series Doom Bird 4, a stamp created before he announced his exit and being labeled as “The Last Flight.” The limited run is releasing Monday January 9, 2023.
