We’ve reviewed quite a few disc golf bags here at Remix Outdoors and Star Frame has always stood out for their unique designs and of course, included coolers. The Beast, their newest addition, takes a step away from the larger bags and coolers they began with.
We would like to thank Star Frame for sending us the Beast to review. Check out the video below or read along as I cover the key features of this bag!
Size and Weight
The Star Frame Beast feels much lighter and more compact than the Bandido, and I personally love it. It’s easy to strap on and off while playing a round and doesn’t wear out your shoulders.
What’s more, the Beast still can fit around 27 discs if you remove the cooler, 22 if you keep it. There is also no shortage of pockets and cupholders.
That amount of storage space and disc capacity is very impressive for a 3.8 pound disc golf bag.
Material and Design
The Beast has a cool teal camo design with black accents. There are also a lot of more subtle but thoughtful design elements like pencil holders, tons of zippered pockets, can holders, and a velcro strip for patches.
The bag is made of the tried and tested 900D Oxford fabric. While not soft like the Upper Park Rebel, this material is very water resistant (not fully waterproof) and durable. The seams and zippers were perfect quality as well from our testing.
The padding on the back and straps is good, not great. It’s not uncomfortable, but not as comfortable as it could be, if that makes sense.
The Cooler
Coolers are Star Frame’s bread and butter. The Beast includes a 3-can cooler that can fit in either the side or top pouch. It works well and the flexibility of being able to use either pouch is a great feature.
If you want to add ice to the cooler you can most likely only fit 2 cans, but that should be enough unless you’ve got a huge party or are an alcoholic.
The Star Frame Beast is a great bag by itself and the cooler just adds more value and versatility.
Final Opinion
The Star Frame Beast is an excellent bag that strikes a perfect balance between disc capacity and size/weight. The cooler is small enough to not get in the way and is a great addition to an already versatile bag. Additionally, it is made with high-quality materials so you can be sure you are making a wise investment in a bag that will last many rounds.
The padding is not quite as thick as some competitors at this price point, but other than that, it is hard to look for things I don’t like about this bag.
Right now it is on sale for $115 with free shipping, so if you’re interested, I would pull the trigger!
Looks great!
